Perhaps this is a no brainer.. but testing is soo important. A fresh new look, or nice ad, or whatever can always seem like a good idea, and sometimes it is, but without something to really test and give solid feedback, its very hard to move steadily forward.

I use wordpress but mostly create static versions of a page and run A/B tests.

Anyone know of a better way to test A/B tests with wordpress or to test bounce or time on site with Google Website Optimizer?

Great post.

Especially startup blogs have problems getting readers to subscribe to their blof. But i think youll get more subscribers by putting the subscribe icon above the fold where everyone can see it. It also need to be eye catching so visitors are willing to click it. Keeping a clean and simple design will also give you more chance of getting subscribers

Nice Post.

i try to keep my blog well-structured. I keep the posts widgets and ads in such a manner that even though the site is crowded to hell, it is not noticed. people can easily go through the necessary contents easily.

Thanks for the reminders. I guess I will be cleaning up my sidebars a bit. It's good to reminded of the little things. I'm going to take another look at my blog and see how I can improve it. It's always a work in progress as you know.

This definitely does help, as long as the content is interesting, the layout of the page doesn't have to be extremely exciting. Boo yah!

heh, i came to this post from someone's twitter tweet. Good suggestions all. Unfortunately, those of us who use drupal - a very robust and full-featured site creation package - are screwed when it comes to #1. I'm not ready to pull the plug on it yet, but my classic ASP/MySQL pages that preceded it were far faster, which is sad.
