Michael, a simple design is clutter-free, user-friendly and easy on the eyes. A complex design is full of unnecessary elements hardly used by the users.

Clear writing is free of technical mumbo-jumbo, dense words, and foreign phrases. It explains without getting on the nerves.

That's how I think of simplicity. Beautiful, clear, and pure.

Of course, there are occasions when getting into deep technical detail is unavoidable, but blogs had better stay from complexities if they want to become 'popular'.

I like the idea of not adding superfluous content to your blog, but why be simple? Clutter-free is one thing, but a simple design could be boring? Clear writing is good, but simple writing could be too basic to be interesting?

There is a lot to be said for good writing, but it doesn't have to be simple writing. :)
