Great post here. I've done so much testing over the years of blending, not blending, ad sizes, etc. I've learned it differs a lot from blog to blog and niche to niche, but I usually have one blended ad and one un-blended ad on my websites.

Great article. I am trying adsense on several niche sites and trying to figure out what works best. I agree that alot of it depends on the crowd you draw to your site. Man, they can be picky!

As for finding a balance between showing your ads or not, I found a plugin that I use. It will let you show your ads, not only adsense, for certain circumstances. I have mine to only show adsense if a visitor comes to my site from a search engine.

http://planetozh.com/blog/my-projects/wordpress-plugin-who-sees-ads-control-adsense-display/

It was relatively easy to set up, but it is worth reading the documentation as there are numerous options that you can set.

Hope that helps someone. Thanks for the link about creating your own heatmap also, hadn't seen that!

Adsense do you. But will take a long time to generate some thing.

The conversion ratio is too low these days. To get adsense codes installed in you site without violating google's terms and conditions are bit difficult.

Better go for some other earning options online. Like nowadays you get paid for giving content.

Completely agree on the minimalist design part. The simpler your blog design, the better your CTR.

It's all about blending really. With AdSense, your aim should be to 1) get the unsuspecting visitors to mistake the ads for the real content (sounds unethical but.. meh) and 2) push the ads in important places so the user's attention is directed towards them so they may hopefully click on the ads. ;)
